There are two types of motors in fans; AC motors or DC motors.

AC at any voltage converts to other voltage through the use of highly efficient transfer. Also, AC motors regulate speeds by controlling the speed of the electric current because they connect directly to the supplied wiring.
DC or Direct Current motors integrate a transformer that flows in one direction and never reverses. In DC-type motors, the direct power source (AC) connects to a transformer and changes the electric power into DC. Resultantly, the amount of power required decreases because the DC motor only uses a direct current and not an alternating one. In DC motors, a system of magnets with opposite polarity creates the force required to rotate the motor’s rotor.
Most fans use AC motors because residential properties use AC power because of its easy supply and cost-effectiveness. It produces and maintains easily. A fan having an AC motor comes with a variety of controls including the remote control.
AC motor fans cooling system has a low power consumption rate. The significant aspect of these fans is zero vibration and minimal noise. They are much cheaper than the DC fans. On the other hand, DC fans are an excellent option for HVAC ventilation. Being highly energy efficient, they consume 70% less power than AC fans. However, these fans are expensive.
Though both the fans make their users feel comfortable, there is no black and white answer to which is the best? If you like an extremely efficient lightweight fan, go for a DC fan. They are typically faster in responding. An AC fan is a good option for outdoor spaces where noise is usually not an issue.
